Course Reflective Narrative
The class of Chicano Novel is one of my favorites because it meets the MLO 3 and 4. In this class we have as main goal, to read all about Chicano culture, especially in this region where the culture shock has consequences. Through various Chicano works we realize the different concerns that these characters are exposed in a society where identity is not easily accepted. During the semester we have read several novels that reflect the lives of the Chicano, for example a well-known work is The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros. After each had a goal novel class analyze and discuss our ideas and views on the structure in which it was composed. The teacher we grouped and assigned us different sides to analyze them in a group and we shared with the class. Also the power to take evidence on the novel helped us remember and choose one of them to write an essay. All works have loved and have a great interest in me to feel identified with some of them. All activities in class helped me to know this new type of literature and open doors to new knowledge. Living in a community where there is a great cultural variety is important to learn a little of each to open our knowledge. Through literature I have gained enough knowledge to someday expose in my classroom and share my ideas with my students. This way I know that some of them will relate to some of the characters.
